This particular Honda Type R is a true creation of the owner /artist who made it what it is today. It takes years of commitment and discipline to build a car as cunning as this one. You need resolve inner strength and vision not unlike that of the Katana craftsman of days long gone who toiled at no end to create nothing less than perfection. Man I love being dramatic.

"I bought this car new back in '99 and threw a turbo on it before I even changed the oil. It's been a work in progress ever since." explained Armando when I asked him about his evil looking Honda. "I've been through all sorts of different set ups with this car since I started working on it but I really wanted to keep with the JDM theme." At first glance, it appears that this car may as well have been bought at a Japanese dealership. "Nearly everything on it is JDM including of course the front end." Indeed, the JDM front end is a nice touch. But looks aren't all this Asian kitten has to offer. There's also the 460 or so whp that she throws down. "It started with bolt-on parts and ended up with me doing all the custom work myself. This car has never seen a shop."

It's always nice to write about a car where the owner has done all the work. In talking with Armando I got a real sense of passion and accomplishment. Of course there are others out there that also see that same labor of love and investment. Those that would just as soon steal it away and make it their own before shaking Armando's hand and complimenting him on his efforts. "This car has seen a lot of action. I used to drive it as a daily but the theft rate on Type R's went through the roof so now I mostly use it on weekends and stuff." Being that Armando lives in Chi-Town, we can see why. The traits of a Samurai are strength, humility and self-control. Not stupidity.
