2008 Season Preview

The 2008 event season is almost here and like Britney Spears with a bottle of Grey Goose, we’re all over it. That’s right. Carbon8 is thoroughly stoked to be a 2008 Media Partner with events like Formula D, NOPI, Hot Import Nights and others. You can count on us to bring you all of the action, highlights and hangovers (especially if you drink when we drink) of this year’s festivities.

And what a year this is shaping up to be. Indeed, with the launch of NOPI’s Drift series and partnership with the NHRA, FD’s renewed ESPN 2 coverage and HIN’s much anticipated show production upgrades, 2008 is sure to be a wild ride so buckle up kid.

The action begins March 3, in San Mateo California with a 21 date HIN Tour accompanied by additional NightShift shows which have been included in this season’s schedule. NightShift has potential to seriously change up the way we look at youth automotive lifestyle events as it brings together some very cool elements of motorsports and entertainment. Attractions like the Boost Mobile FMX show and XDL along with major label music acts provide new ways to spend a Saturday drunk and belligerent with friends and family alike. Visit www.hotimportnights.com for event dates and locations.

The month of April see’s the much anticipated and debated NOPI Drift series come to life. First stop is Moroso Sports Park in West Palm Beach, Florida which is sure to bring more than just grumpy residents of Retirement Communities through the gates. Yep, all eyes are on NOPI and its drivers to see if they can deliver a caliber of drifting that is on par with older more established events. NOPI of course are more renowned for their Drag racing events (which are now sanctioned by the NHRA) and their infamous NOPI Nationals which take place each September in Atlanta, Georgia. Go to www.nopi.com/nopims/index.php for event dates and locations.

April also marks the return of Formula Drift. Still riding high from a stellar 2007 season that included coverage on ESPN2, FD will be back bigger and badder than ever. With the addition of new teams like Gardella Racing and the huge announcement of Daijiro Yoshihara combining forces with a still recovering Rhys Millen, things are going to be intense. Inside sources at FD also tell us that we can expect to see some skateboarding at their events this year along with the crowing of a Miss Formula D. Nice. Go to www.formulad.com for event dates and locations. And what about the rumor that Scion is putting a drift team together to compete in FD this year? Is it fact or fiction? I guess you’ll just have to wait and see. Good talk….we’ll see you out there.
