On July 12, Formula Drift rolled into Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the first time in history for Round 4, “High Stakes”. Wisely, the main event was held at night so the lot of us didn’t disintegrate in the scorching desert sun.
The event was a success with a healthy amount of fans, girls and adrenaline soaked competition. With guest appearances from Miss Formula DRIFT, Catherine Kluthe, fans were able to take home autographs from drivers and other celebrities such as UFC fighter’s Frank Mir and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
After some tight racing, the Top 16 drivers were determined as: #1 Tanner Foust, #2 Sam Hubinette, #3 Rhys Millen, #4 Michihiro Takatori, #5 John Russakoff, #6 Toshiki Yoshioka, #7 Manabu Orido, #8 Daijiro Yoshihara, #9 Chris Forsberg, #10 Yasu Kondo, #11 Stephan Verdier, #12 Tony Brakahopia, #13 Calvin Wan, #14 Ken Gushi, #15 Ryan Tuerck, and #16 Robbie Nishida.
Toshiki Yoshioka came out on top after beating none other than Sam Hubinette in the semis and then Dai Yoshihara in the finals to take home his first Formula D win with his AE86 Corolla!.
