Yalisha Kim

Yalisha Kim may be young, but this beautiful Japan-by-way-of-Korea import is wise beyond her years. Fluent in four languages, she’s traveled the world as a model–and interpreter. Recently making the permanent move from Tokyo to Los Angeles, Yalisha sold off her assets, including some successfully owned businesses, to start anew in Hollywoodland–where she’s already made a big splash as a model, actress and business tycoon.

C8: Discuss your background for us...
YK: I have been modeling for 5 years but most of my work was in Japan. While there I worked on movies, TV, and in print. I also operated and owned a salon/spa business. About 2 years ago I decided to pursue my dream and come to America to model.

C8:You recently made the move from Japan to Los Angeles... how was the transition?
YK:The transition was hard for me at first but I really love Los Angeles now and I could see myself living here for a long time. Working here has changed a lot because here you really have to be careful about who you work with and you can’t trust everyone.

C8: As opposed to Japan?
YK: In Japan people are more honest and work is taken very seriously. Modeling in Japan is more rigorous than modeling here... but I worked with lots of creative people there and it really helped me learn more about the industry.

C8: So now that you’re in LA, have you got your eyes set on the silver screen?
YK: Yes. I love acting and I hope I can be on screen with some of the greats one day.

C8: What do you bring to a shoot?
YK: I always bring energy and creativity to a shoot. My favorite type of photographer is one that’s full of energy and can communicate well so we can both get the result we want. I really like when a photographer plays music it really helps me get into the shoot more and it creates more energy. When it comes to ideas for a shoot I like to work with the photographer and discuss ideas so the shoot is easier because you both know what each other wants.

C8: How has the car industry treated you at this point?
YK: Modeling in the car industry is great. I can be myself and just have fun and not have to worry about every little thing. The fans are really supportive and really appreciate the models.
