Let me guess, you were hoping to see a review of GRID this month. Listen bro, after a month of playing GTA IV almost 24/7, I just couldn’t handle any more driving no matter how good the simulator. What do you want to hear? I played GRID. It’s good, go buy it.
I’ve always been a HUGE fan of the Tom Clancy games published by UBISOFT. From the first time I played Ghost Recon I was hooked. These programmers just make clean games and they’ve come a long way in terms of perfecting playability. The Rainbow Six franchise is a classic. Who doesn’t like the idea of playing the leader in an elite counter terrorism unit? Right from the get-go this game keeps a solid pace and is no holds barred (except don’t go wasting your teammates or innocent civilians). And what better place to roll with a “safety’s off, lock and load” attitude than Sin City?
Let’s face it, Vegas would be the ultimate playground if you were strapped with all sorts of weapons and explosive devices with a green light to use them anyway you pleased. I’m not going to lie to you though, this game can be tricky. There’s a lot going on and it happens fast. Thankfully, automatic save points are well placed so when you get your ass handed to you, it’s easy to “reload” and take the head splitting shot you should’ve before you got wasted the first time around.
I find the best way to play this game and other first person shooters like it, is by using a more methodical approach.Once you figure out how everything in your arsenal works and how to access it quickly, you can command your team with deadly effectiveness and if you’re a pussy, they’ll take a lot of the heat for you. If they go down, you can revive them. If you run out of ammo in the heat of battle, pick up a weapon left behind by a fallen enemy. If you need more explosives and upgraded body armor, find an “Outfitting” station and stock up. If you’re broke, throw a frag grenade at a bank of slot machines and collect the payoff. After all it’s Vegas baby, Vegas. Six style.
