Hyundai just announced that they are working with Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) to build the “Art of Speed” Genesis coupe for the SEMA show this year. The car will feature a 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine with a RMR turbo kit along with other go fast goodies “to turn the Genesis Coupe into a race car capable of running in the Pikes Pike Hill Climb, Formula D or Redline Time Attack series.”

It looks like Hyundai is willing to put some big marketing dollars behind the launch of their new RWD sports car. Judging by the badass PR photo of the car, Hyundai may have a hit on their hands with this one…if only people can get over the stigma that it’s a Hyundai.

Speaking of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb…As usual, this year’s event came and went without much hoopla from US based media. It seems like the event only draws the international press and local media. In our book, this event is still one of the greatest Motorsport spectacles in the world even though the road to the top is almost completely paved now.

Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima won the Unlimited class and overall title again this year in the SUZUKI SPORT XL7. But big ups to Tsukasa (Papa) Gushi and Lisa Klassen for coming in 3rd and 4th respectively in the Open Division.

SuperGT (formerly known as JGTC) never really caught on here in the states despite pulling in epic numbers when they ran an exhibition round here in the states a few years back. We still get press releases from them and cool photos so click here to download some cool wallpapers from the last race at Sugo.

In the Live Sockets Battle Series…Cobb Tuning Skyline GT-R35 edged out the Focus Auto Sales R34 when the R34 had braking issues and went off track coming off the bank into the infield on lap one. Even though Billy Johnson put in a faster lap time in the chase position, he could not make up the difference in the combined time.

We knew that the battle between GST Motorsports and C-West/BC/Hankook was going to be epic when both drivers Gary Sheehan and Tyler McQuarrie decided to throw out the rulebook and run this battle with no gap from the start. It was an all out drag race at the line and the GST Impreza’s hp and grip advantage kept the team in front for the entire battle despite the efforts that Tyler put in. The C-West/BC/Hankook S2000 was super fast in the corners and got within a few feet of the GST Impreza but the long straights in the course was just too much of a disadvantage for the team. Stay tuned for the full video feed of this one.
